The LED technology inside every hue wireless LED bulb is a little bit special. That's because it can display different tones of white light – from warm yellow white to vibrant blue white. Of course, it can also recreate any color in the spectrum. Naturally.
And they couldn't be easier to install. Just pick the lights or lamps you want to give the hue makeover and screw the wireless bulbs in. Then turn the light switch on, so there's electricity running to the bulb, and you're all done. It really is that simple.
The hue bridge is where all the clever stuff happens. It's the 'bridge' between your bulbs and your smart phone app. And it can link up to 50 bulbs at a time.
To connect your bridge, first power up the bridge and then connect it to the back of your wireless router, using the network cables provided. The blue lights will turn on one by one. When all four lights stay on continuously, you're ready for action.
When it comes to wireless lights, hue is about as smart as it gets. And smart lights need a smart controller. So we created a hue smart phone app. You can't get much smarter than that.
To get started, just download the free app to your smart phone or tablet. The first time it opens it'll search for your bridge and connect to the lights. Once that's done, you can use the app to control your wireless bulbs.
You already know that hue can recreate any color. You just need the palette to paint with, right? So what better place to start than your own photos? Use the app to capture the colors from any photo and then recreate them in your room.
Choose a photo from your smart phone or just take a snap and use that instead. On screen you'll see pointers that represent each of your wireless bulbs. Simply drag the pointer to a color in your photo and the hue bulb will change to that color straight away.
At the top of the screen you'll also find the full white light scale. You can set a hue bulb to a shade of white in exactly the same way you pick colors from your photos.
PAINT WITH LIGHTSo you've created the perfect blend of light and color. Wouldn't it be great to save that scene to use again later? Yep, we've thought of that too. Just save your scene so next time you can switch to that personalized light setting at the touch of a button.
Once you've started saving scenes you can also group them together. So you could have various scenes just for the living room. Or maybe scenes for different occasions, like a romantic dinner or a party with friends. And if you think you've hit upon the perfect light combo, why not share that scene with the hue community?
SET THE SCENEOkay, so hue can light your room in a million different ways. But it can also help you focus, give you an energy boost or help you relax. Now that's some clever science. And it's something we've crammed into a very useful tool we call Light Recipes.
To use the Light Recipes, just select the option in the app and then choose one of the four recipes – Relax, Concentrate, Energize and Reading. There's a sliding bar to change the brightness, so you're always the one in remote control of your lights.

Just because you're not at home doesn't mean you can't enjoy personalized light. With a hue account you'll be able to access your wireless lamps from anywhere in the world through a web browser or your app.
It's easy to create an account. You just need a username and password and you're ready to go. All we ask is that the first time you log into the hue dashboard you're connected to your home wi-fi network. That way we can link your bridge to your account. Then you're free to roam.
What's great about being able to access your lights through a web browser is you don't need to be at home to control your home lighting. And that means hue can become your guard dog as well as your lights.
Maybe you're stuck in the office. But you want it to look like you're home. Simple. Just switch the lights on from your menu screen. Or you're on vacation, soaking up the sun. If you can get online then you can make it seem like you never left home.
REMOTE CONTROL FOR LIGHTChances are that once you've got your hands on hue you'll create some great scenes of your own. But sharing scenes is where the fun really starts. Join the community and share scenes you've made, or try out scenes from other hue fans.
Better still, the hue community is also where you'll find some inspiring stuff on a hue theme that'll get your creative juices flowing. And come back regularly to check out the latest hue add-ons, courtesy of our big brained developers.
